Safe at Home
SpaceShipOne taxiing back on its own power. Much has been made of the fact that unlike all of the spacecraft that came before it (yes, yes, yes, the X-15, but that one never made it into space, did it?), SS1 lands and remains a working vehicle after touchdown. It's a big engineering achievement but it also goes to show you the care that goes into an item's development when you're spending your own money on it. Note buckling of the fairing around the rocket nozzle at the rear. Dad's going to be pissed when he and Mom come back from vacation...I told you we should have just taken the station wagon like he said!
Also note jumbo jet in background. Dozens of mothballed commercial jets are stacked all over the airport.
